Enhanced Range of Foam Mattresses from Drive DeVilbiss

Posted on February 7th 2018

Specifying the correct surface on which to nurse patients at risk of developing pressure ulcers is a complex issue. Following an exhaustive review of its foam mattress offering, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare has produced a new brochure detailing the company’s comprehensive range of foam support surfaces. This includes mattresses and seat cushions, bringing together products under the Drive DeVilbiss and Sidhil brands detailing enhanced clinical benefits and performance improvements.

The new, improved range is the result of an extensive programme of product development, utilising the company’s knowledge and expertise to implement positive changes based on user feedback and identified clinical requirements. The mattresses are manufactured in the UK and follow NICE Clinical Guidance (CG179, published April 2014) when indicating product risk factors.

One of the key drivers behind the investment in the redeveloped range has been to retain Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare’s position at the leading edge of performance and technical specification in this field. To this end, zonal areas have been introduced to a number of the company’s support surfaces, designed to provide additional pressure redistribution benefits.

These include smaller castellations in the scapula area to support bony prominences and the heel section to protect this vulnerable area. Larger castellations now give additional support in the sacral area.

The Premium range of support surfaces is aimed predominantly at the acute market, featuring navy blue mattress covers and welded seams. The Premium range includes surfaces such as the Acclaim Cool 4G featuring an open cell polymer structure designed to enhance airflow, reduce body heat and improve comfort and the new zonal Permaflex Plus, with high density foam side formers within the mattress to provide support when moving or transferring patients.

The Standard range of support surfaces is aimed predominantly at the community and long term care markets, featuring green mattress covers and sewn seams. The Standard range includes surfaces such as the MAT 30 with a Geltex top layer to assist with microclimate management, the Softrest VE engineered to work with profiling beds and the Permaflex ST featuring zonal castellations to provide optimum patient support.

All Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare mattresses and cushions comply fully with acknowledged industry standards.
