New Glasgow Children’s Hospital opts for Sidhil Inspiration cots

Posted on October 28th 2015

Inspiration cots developed and manufactured by healthcare specialists Sidhil have been selected to equip Scotland’s largest hospital, the brand new Southern General, for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children which is housed on the £842M complex in Glasgow.

Following a competitive tender process, 60 Inspiration cots have already been delivered to the site ahead of the scheduled opening in June of this keystone facility within the Scottish Health Modernisation Strategy, which aims to lead the way in contemporary healthcare provision.

Sidhil’s Inspiration Cot, now the accepted industry standard for paediatric cots and the only one still produced in volume entirely in the UK, is designed to meet a comprehensive range of paediatric requirements and has been revised and improved continuously over the past decade to increase flexibility of use.

The cot features an electrically operated variable height tilting mattress platform with a height range of 535-870mm (21-34”), together with unique drop-down telescopic design side rails which, complete with removable head and foot ends, allow easy access from all four sides. They have been supplied complete with Sidhil’s Lullaby mattress systems.

In the new children's hospital, 80% of the 256 beds are single and en-suite, with parents' accommodation in the area. The specifiers were looking for a paediatric cot to meet very specific clinical requirements in terms of both performance and infection control. To meet the individual specification, Sidhil have modified the Inspiration cot to match these clinical needs in terms of functions such as height adjustment, weight limit and tilt. In addition, the Glasgow cots have been produced in a special colourway to complement the planned interior decor.
