Siddall & Hilton business is established by Rowland Siddall - one of the UK’s leading names in the bedding trade, with factories and showrooms nationwide.

1970's

Increasing social change sees significant growth in community and residential care requirements, with Sidhil leading the way in developing solutions for caring outside the hospital environment.

Sidhil moves to new manufacturing premises in Boothtown, Halifax.

Sidhil’s expertise is recognised in many worldwide markets with significant sales in many countries ranging from Malawi to Australia, Nigeria to Holland and Yemen to Japan.

Launch of the Millennium community bed.

 

Sidhil is the first company in the world to design and manufacture beds specifically for the community market, setting the agenda for Community care into the new millennium. These beds uniquely break down into sections for easy transportation and installation in domestic settings.

Sidhil launches the market-leading Solite range of beds for community applications, setting the benchmark for the industry and creating a brand with a reputation for longevity, functionality and practicality which remains the byword for quality today.

Sidhil launches the Inspiration paediatric cot. The brightly coloured product with its wealth of features and benefits, catches the imagination of hospitals around the UK, including Great Ormond Street, who also commission Sidhil to produce a matching junior bed. (In the intervening years, the Inspiration Cot has been upgraded many times and is now the only paediatric cot which is still manufactured in the UK.)

Continued growth and development at Sidhil prompts the move to the Sidhil Business Park, comprising some 220,000ft2 of prime manufacturing space and providing the company with the infrastructure to install a highly efficient and economic production facility, together with tremendous potential for future expansion.
